The State of Sixth Form Spaces

Uncovering Hidden Potential in your Sixth Form Spaces

Be a part of the research and shape the future of sixth forms

Why take part in the research?

Our goal is to uncover the untapped potential of your sixth forms, transforming them into thriving environments that foster positive experiences for your students and drive your school’s success.

Getting To KNow Your School

Phase one involves an in-person walk around*.  During the walk-around  we’ll take the time to get to know you and your school better and to truly understand the feel of your existing spaces.

Presenting Opportunities

Phase two involves an appraisal visit to present what we have identified as quick win opportunities and long term solutions to enhance your sixth form spaces to achieve your goals.

Taking The Survey

Phase three involves a short survey that digs deeper into how you feel about your current spaces. Through the 5-minute survey, we’ll explore your current problems, immediate priorities, and future possibilities.

Why we are conducting this research

Our previous research results (focused on learning spaces and boarding spaces) reveal that many leaders don’t feel existing spaces are up to scratch, with even basic functions – like ventilation and storage – needing improvement.

What’s more, we are hearing that school leaders believe their current sixth form spaces are holding students back. So we have launched this research to identify the areas of sixth forms which need the most attention to help you as a school, and as a industry as a whole.

Below is a snapshot of some of the previous research findings:

56%

of schools felt their environments weren’t supporting students with neurodiverse needs

44%

of leaders believe their current learning spaces are preventing students from reaching their full potential

96%

of schools haven’t intentionally designed neuro-inclusive boarding spaces
