Wycombe Abbey School engaged with Envoplan to design and implement a thorough refurbishment of their boarding house facilities. The existing spaces were tired and needed transforming into modern day environments suited to the needs of their discerning students. The works needed to be carried out during the summer holiday period and it was essential that the project was complete and ready for the new term.
There was a clear objective to achieve here – the spaces had to be modern and fresh, up to the minute and set to appeal to the boarding students. However, as is often the case, the boarding houses themselves were very traditional, heritage type buildings with plenty of character of their own and it was imperative that this was recognised and respected. In conjunction with this, the individual house identities needed to be celebrated and identified within the design narrative to give a clear sense of ownership and belonging to the resident students.
Our design team got to work, carrying out detail surveys, student workshops and interviews with the House staff. Through a careful design process and thorough research we were able to create a carefully considered interior design that completely fulfilled the brief and provided the students with a truly stunning environment to live, work and socialise in. The project delivery was well organised with key components ordered well ahead of the summer holidays to enable a smooth and hassle free construction phase for the client.
